The Ethics of Research Involving Children: Common Questions, Potential Strategies and Useful Guidance.
This event is aimed at researchers at all career stages (including postgraduate students), whether experienced in, or just thinking about, researching with children, and professional services staff involved in supporting research, or the ethical approval process.
The event will cover:
• the reasons why, and the ways in which, we do research with children (including what we mean by ‘with’!);
• things to consider when applying for ethical approval for research with children (e.g. consent, safeguarding, recruitment of participants, confidentiality, data protection etc);
• tips for navigating the process of ethical approval, with input from members of the ethics committee;
• examples of successful research with children and advice on how those researchers navigated the ethics process.
This is an in-person event and is free to attend. It is open to University of Liverpool staff and postgraduate students (we may be able to accommodate external participants on request). Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
